You’ll join Marie Curie’s Legal & Governance team, providing expert governance and company secretarial support to the charity, its trustees and executive leadership team. The team plays a vital role in ensuring Marie Curie operates effectively, transparently and in compliance with its legal and regulatory obligations. Working closely with trustees, senior leaders and colleagues across the organisation, you’ll help maintain the governance frameworks that support the charity’s mission and impact.

As Assistant Company Secretary, you’ll help ensure the smooth and effective operation of Marie Curie’s governance processes. From supporting Board and Committee meetings to maintaining statutory records and advising on governance matters, your work will help enable informed decision-making at the highest levels of the organisation.

Your Impact:

Support the delivery of high-quality company secretarial and governance services to the Board, Committees and Executive Leadership Team.
Coordinate Board and Committee meetings, including agenda preparation, paper management, minute-taking and action tracking.
Maintain statutory registers, governance records and annual governance calendars.
Support compliance with charity law, company law and regulatory requirements.
Prepare and submit statutory filings and returns to Companies House, the Charity Commission and other regulatory bodies.
Provide governance advice and support to colleagues across the organisation.
Support trustee recruitment, onboarding, induction and ongoing development.
Build effective relationships with trustees, senior leaders, auditors and key stakeholders.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of governance processes, policies and procedures.

Key Requirements:

Experience in a company secretarial, governance or corporate governance role within a medium or large organisation.
Experience supporting senior-level meetings, including agenda preparation and minute-taking.
Strong understanding of corporate governance principles and regulatory compliance.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with confidence working with senior leaders and trustees.
Chartered Governance Institute qualification (fully or part qualified) or equivalent governance qualification will be an asset.
Previous experience in governance from a highly regulated environment is desirable.

Salary: £36,900-41,000 per annum (+ £3,500 London Weighting Allowance if applicable)

Contract: Permanent, full-time (35h per week)

Location: Hybrid. You will work from home and from our Embassy Gardens office in London (min. 2 days a week)
